Adult Baptism or Membership in the Catholic Church :
RCIA • Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults: The process by which adults or youth become members of the Catholic Church.
The RCIA process is intended for adults who:
have not been baptized Christian and wish to be so,
are baptized but seek full communion with the Catholic Church,
are Catholic and have been baptized but have not received Eucharist or Confirmation.
After an initial interview, persons are invited to participate in a series of inquiry sessions. The schedule and number of sessions are determined by the needs of those participating. The sessions include prayer, reflection on the Sunday scriptures, discussion about the issues and topics central to the faith life of a Catholic Christian.
School-age children and youth, ages 7 and beyond, who have not yet been baptized are invited into a similar process. It is family-centered and designed to meet the faith needs of school-age children and youth. Children over the age of 7 receive all three Sacraments of initiation( Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation ) at the Easter Vigil.
