Alpha at OLP

Have you ever wondered...

... if there's more to life than this?

... what we are here for?

... why evil exists?

... how to find your purpose?

Alpha can help you find the answers to these big questions in life!

And it's fun. We promise. At Alpha you'll...

MAKE CONNECTIONS

Meet new people in a fun, casual environment. You may even end up making lifelong friends.

FIND ANSWERS

Ask those big questions in a judgment-free space, and hear different perspectives.

DISCOVER A NEW SENSE OF MEANING

Find what you've been looking for: a place where you feel comfortable exploring the big questions of life  and faith.

Despite growing up attending Mass every Sunday, my faith had quietly eroded to little more than going through the motions. After divorce, struggles with alcoholism during the pandemic, and losing my job, I felt disconnected from both my community and my faith.

Alpha changed that. The talks sparked conversations that were honest, sometimes challenging, but always inspiring.

Alpha won't magically transport you to perfect faith, but it can provide a compass and map when you're feeling lost. Whatever your background or current situation, there's a place for you at Alpha.

Alpha Guest from Summer 2024

Initially, I approached Alpha with skepticism. However, as each week passed, I found myself eagerly anticipating the next session.

The turning point was the Alpha Day, when I experienced an unexpected sense of peace. The most transformative aspect was experiencing the journeys of fellow participants and gaining fresh perspectives through their stories.

Alpha created a space where relationships and connections flourished, challenging and enriching my own understanding in ways I never expected.

Alpha Guest from Fall 2022

Alpha opened a door to deeper connections. We explored profound questions about life, faith, and purpose together.

These relationships have extended beyond our meetings—I've supported others through job transitions and everyday needs.

It's like discovering a wonderful book or show; when you experience something transformative, you naturally want to share it with others.

Most people have questions about life, meaning, and purpose.

We've looked for answers to those questions too!

Millions of people in over 120 countries have found a place to ask life's big questions through Alpha.

Since the early 1990s, Alpha has been creating spaces for conversation in schools, prisons, coffee shops, homes, and churches in over 100 different languages.

Because everyone deserves a place to explore life's deeper meaning.

What does a typical night at Alpha look like?

FOOD

Whether it's a group of friends gathered around a kitchen table, or a quick catch-up over coffee and cake, food has a way of bringing people together.

It's no different at Alpha.

We start with food because it's a great way to relax and get to know each other.

TALK

The talks explore core questions about life and faith from a Christian perspective.

They address questions such as "Who is Jesus?" and "How can I have faith?"

Talks are generally 30 minutes long.

DISCUSSION

The discussions offer the chance to share thoughts and ideas on the topic and discuss it in a small group.

You don't have to say anything.

And there's nothing you can't say.

It's an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective in an honest, friendly, and open environment.

Welcome to Alpha

At Alpha, we know that everyone thinks about the big questions in life. But where do you go with these questions? Who do you take them to?

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a place where you could feel comfortable exploring them and sharing your thoughts, including your doubts, in a friendly atmosphere?

The problem is many church or religious settings can be intimidating for newcomers. Alpha is designed to avoid this.

We believe everyone should have a place to ask life's big questions without judgement or pressure. It can feel lonely trying to figure this stuff out on your own, which is why Alpha exists as a place where all questions are welcome.

Here's how we do it:

1. We share meals together to help everyone feel connected.

2. We have short, interesting talks about life's biggest questions.

3. We break into small groups where you can share your thoughts or just listen.

Why not give it a try? Food, great conversation, and new friends - what’s not to like?
