Many Catholics are familiar with Exodus 90 as a Lenten spiritual program, but fewer know about another powerful opportunity that is just around the corner: St. Michael's Lent.
Beginning Wednesday, August 12, 2026, and continuing through the Feast of the Archangels (traditionally St. Michael's Day) on September 29, St. Michael's Lent is an ideal time to begin the Exodus 90 journey.
Exodus 90 is a spiritual exercise rooted in Catholic tradition and inspired by the Israelites' journey from slavery to freedom in the Book of Exodus. While traditionally completed over 90 days, the principles of the program can help men deepen their relationship with Christ at any time of the year. The program is built upon three pillars:
- Prayer: Daily prayer, meditation, and spiritual reading to foster a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Asceticism: Practical disciplines that free us from distractions and unhealthy attachments, including abstaining from alcohol, limiting entertainment, taking cold showers, and fasting from snacks and desserts.
- Fraternity: Small groups of men who meet regularly to encourage one another, pray together, and provide accountability throughout the journey.
My own journey to Our Lady of Peace and ultimately to serving as Director of Faith Formation can be traced to the work of the Holy Spirit through Exodus 90. After years away from the Sacrament of Reconciliation, this program rekindled my faith and renewed my relationship with Christ. It also opened my eyes to the beauty of the Mass and its deep scriptural foundations.
That experience is why I continue to encourage every man I know to consider Exodus 90. I hope that the men of our Archdiocese grow closer to Christ and become the husbands, fathers, brothers, and friends God has called them to be.

"I had thought about giving Exodus 90 a try for a while, but at first I did not have others who were interested in doing it with me. I was tempted to try it on my own, but I'm glad I waited until I could join a group. The fraternity was one of the best parts!"
Although Exodus 90 is firmly rooted in Catholic spirituality, many of its practices—daily prayer, self-discipline, and authentic Christian fellowship—can benefit Christians from a variety of traditions who desire to grow closer to Christ.
